Upgrading sound in T6x

#1 Post by swiftrhett » Fri May 11, 2007 5:22 pm

What is the best way to upgrade the soundcard and speakers? Is that possible? The sound in my old T40p is terrible. I'm about to get a T60p or T61.

Thanks!

It is not possible to "upgrade" the sound card or the speakers on the T60.
Now: T60 2613-EKU | T23 2647-9NU | 600X 2645-9FU | HP 100LX
Past: X31 2673-Y13 | T41 2374-3HU | T22 2647-AEU

Rules of the road :thumbs-UP:

While you cannot replace your built in soundcard, you can hook up an external USB soundcard, or a PCMCIA soundcard.

My recommendation:
Echo Indigo IO/DJ PCMCIA sound card + Hifi headphones (>$100).

This is a great soundcard for those with an ExpressCard slot: http://www.creative.com/products/produc ... duct=10769

This is good as well for those with a PCMCIA slot: http://www.creative.com/products/produc ... duct=10769

m-audio makes some amazing external soundcards. But this external soundcard needs to be plugged into an AC outlet.

If I were the OP, I'd look into PCMCIA card which features the Audigy chipset. Keep in mind that it will use a little bit of the battery. Other than that it should be a big step up from the onboard sound.

How about S/PDIF on one of the docking stations, I the T60p/T61 already has a sound card that supports HD audio so you can hook it up to your digital receiver or amplifier. Certainly not the cheapest way but it could one of the best options as what the OP wanted to know.
