#1 Post by Boricua65 » Fri May 11, 2007 10:10 pm

I just finished installed the SXGA+ IPS, and it looks great!!! :D

As I see web pages, including this one, everything is so crystal clear. The colors are vibrate and everything almost stands out.

You installed it in the A31 in your sig, that had the 14.1" screen? What parts did you need to swap, the screen, inverter, LCD cable, and front bezel?

IBM 11P8206 Display Panel 15" IPS SXGA+ TFT

IBM Thinkpad A30 A31 15 in. LCD SXGA Inverter 62P9872

It took me a while to acquire these parts but was able to secure all of them and install last night. The one part that took the longest was the front LCD bezel for a 15" screen. HTH.

EDIT: Thanks for the reminder. I will go ahead and fix my signature.

So you were able to do it with the original 14" LCD cable? I have the screen and inverter here, I might have to try swapping them into my working A31, it currently has a 15" XGA.

Did you have to do anything else to it, or did you just change that hardware? I have emailed screentekinc.com about upgrading screen resolution on my r60e and they say no laptop resolution can be upgraded... I sort of figured they were just saying that 'cause they're too lazy to check. From what I gather ther's an lcd controller on the board that may or may not support the new lcd....

No, I bought the SXGA+ IPS LCD cable which is part number 27L0714 from http://www.hammerheadtech.com/. Their eBay store is http://stores.ebay.com/Hammerhead-Links ... idZ2QQtZkm

I highly recommend looking at the HMM and making sure what can be used and upgraded. That's what I did with mine. Good luck.
