Did you restart the laptop after PM?
The proper way to work with PM, is to hit the 'Apply' button after each action, don't let it do 2 or more actions in one go!
Try to make the floppy-version of PM (only 2 disks) and work with that.
I'm also not so sure if PM7 even works with XP.

pm on t30

#3 Post by cparker » Mon May 14, 2007 7:22 pm

I was able to use PM 8 on my t30 with xp pro (ntfs partitioning) without any problems. But I did boot from the "rescue diskette" and then used the 2nd diskette to run PM from. Also I used PM 8 and then just to be safe, I patched pm 8 with the update patch that I downloaded from the symantec site.

T30 PartitionMagic problem

#4 Post by syrenab » Thu May 17, 2007 12:52 pm

I have no problem resizing partitions with PM7 rescue diskettes. But no way can I get rid of Error 117 when trying to run PM7 from HD installation. I wn through a complete reinstall with no better result.

Everything else works perfectly and Windows Exlorer shows correct disk letters.

I guess I''ll have to live with just working from PM7recovery diskettes.

If you can achieve all you need while running from floppy, I would not worry about the HD-install. Why would you have that program on your HD permanently anyway?

T30 Partition Magic WinXP

Thank you,for your assistance.
You are right. I am deleting Partition Magic from the HD - it is now reporting Error 1874 "Configuration file not found" - while at the same time showing correct Partition Info with no errors! - so obviously it's screwed up!
