xorg 6.8 vs 7 on T43

#1 Post by tartpad » Mon May 14, 2007 2:56 pm

Hi,

I have a T43 (Radeon Mobility M300), and using CentOS 4 or older Fedora (3), I am able to get what I want, that is: when at work I have a 20" external LCD monitor running at 1600x1200, and when at home just using the built in LCD running at 1400x1050. This by just using a default xorg.conf file from the install.

Now, having upgraded to CentOS 5, and I have also tried Fedora 6, I am not able to get the external monitor to work with higher resolutions than the internal LCD, 1400x1050. I assume this is because of some change in the upgraded xorg 7.x

Have anybody else seen this ? Is there a solution ? (Currently I just downgraded xorg to 6.8, but this brought other problems....)

PS: I am not using dual head or anything fancy like that, and would rather not use the ATI drivers.

Tor

In the monitor section of xorg.conf, underneath the colour depth you are using should be a resolution or a list of resolutions. Edit it, so that 1600x1200 appears below it.
