Unable to do a System Recovery

#1 Post by Bucksnort101 » Mon May 14, 2007 3:13 pm

Trying to do a full system recovery on a T20 (Type 2647-81U0).
Am starting with a clean hard drive, partioned wiped and verified gone. Boot to recovery CD and run through the control panel options. Easyrestore starts copying data, but after it reports 100% of data is copied it comes up with the following error:
"Error #1807 - Error compressing or decompressing image file data".
System is rebooted and get "Missing operatin system" errror.
Have tried 2 separate recovery CD's and a second HDD and get the same errors.
Anything I may be missing here?

try another cd unit, maybe a faulty drive doesn't read the data well and gives errors or you may have a memory failing [ram], this can give sometimes subtile errors and eventully die...do some swapping if you have the chance...

good luck!

If you suspect RAM, run memtest86 and loop it for a couple of hours. It should post no errors.

If you do not wish to spend any money, you can go to this site:

http://www.memtest.org

and download a copy of memtest86+, an off-shoot of the original memtest86 program.

(edit: Memtest86 can still be downloaded for free; just use the download link in the left frame)
