Utility to improving trackpoint useability
I just got an r60e, and to my dismay I found that it had no trackpad, only the trackpoint! So, I am trying to think of how the trackpad could be improved. I was thinking if I could take the rate of change of pressure that would be better, that way the thing responds more to the movement of the finger, rather than the pressure exerted. It's more like a conventional mouse, or trackpad works, see?. Right now using the trackpoint is a bit like trying to control a drop of water on a sheet of glass if you know what I mean. You can change the rate of movement, but it's not correlated to finger movement as directly.
Any ideas on how to implement this? I'm not a programmer, unfortunately....

Do you want to have to let go of the TrackPoint and restart the mouse movement over and over like on the TrackPad? When you get used to it, I believe you'll find the TrackPoint much more convenient and efficient to use. Maybe it helps to think of it as a small joystick instead of a mouse.

Trackpoint is one of those things you either love or hate. I never used it until x301 and I'm loving it !:) more it was definently not intended for gaming. Touchpad is not a good thing for gaming either imho. As a former hardcore gamer, your best bet here in any case is a proper mouse. I would argue - just give trackpoint a go, use it for a lil while as it is. The chances are you may as well like it !

You can't implement it. Either learn to use a trackpoint the way it's meant to be used, or don't (no biggie, it's a matter of personal preference).Mackmirillo wrote:Any ideas on how to implement this? I'm not a programmer, unfortunately....
Maybe the R60e can be fitted with a palmrest that has a touchpad? If the appropriate connector on the motherboard exists, it should be a trivial upgrade.
