SP2 Internet Browsing slowness after upgrading the SP2
For those who have upgraded to WinXP SP2 instead of a clean install of SP2, you will notice that your network browser is slower in Internet Explorer to sites such as www.schwab.com and mycard.fleet.com - there is a huge delay before the page fully loads. The reason is that clean installs don't load Microsoft IP Protocol version 6 while running the Service Pack 2 does so all you have to do is goto Start Menu -> Run and then put in "ipv6 uninstall" and reboot and this will fix the problem.

jd, not sure why it worked in my case, just that I had been experiencing similar problems on this one machine. This machine (2373-KXU) is on a wireless connection about 200 feet from the WAP using a range expander to compensate. All I know is that using the afore mentioned fix everything went back to the way it was pre-SP2. Also as I mentioned all other units on the same network, which are all within 30 feet of the WAP exhibited nothing similar
Go figure
T41p-GEU / T42p-KXU bought from Bill/ T60p-8HU / 4 T400p's and now a T440p

Yeah, I noticed when I did a fresh install to SP2, it didn't install it but it did it on all the network SP2 installs.mrbjr wrote:Vince, thanks alot, that solved a problem. Wish I had read your post before doing a complete factory restore and still had the problem you describe.
Appreciate your sharing

Nope, didn't install it by mistake. I noticed that when I did a fresh install of a slipstreamed SP2 disc in VMWare, it didn't install it but if I ran the Service Pack 2 over a existing install, it installs it by default. If you look at the SP2 fixes, one of the KB items is the Advanced Networking Pack. Apparently Microsoft still hasn't done a good job with IPv6 as my FreeBSD boxes has the IPv6 and it doesn't create the delay at all.jdhurst wrote:I just did a quick search on IPV6. It is not installed. Further, in the help instructions, it says it has to be deliberately installed (not installed simply by upgrading to SP2), and not to install it unless you know you are in an IPV6 environment. Maybe you installed it by mistake? ... JDHurst
