Recorder missing from Sonic
Recorder missing from Sonic
After removing Nero...for some reason or other my CD/RW drive disappeared from my computer...no error messages though...i followed the link from here and used guided help to restore it
http://support.microsoft.com/default.as ... s%3B314060
Now whenever i try to burn anything or write to disc i open Record Now or one of a couple of other apps i downloaded ( i first thought it was a Sonic fault ) to try burn but i get at the top of the window ' No Recorder' and same with DivX player/burner so it must be the drive not the software.

I click to check for other drives but it does nothing...i have an external multi writer but don't want to reinstall Nero.
I can play CDs and DVDs ok no problem just can't write anything to disc with the internal drive...
Any pointers please.
EDIT:
I've been getting the message....Please attach a drive yet the drive shows up as enabled and working without any problems in Device Manager.

Have you tried re-installing RecordNow?
If you have a factory installation you should find it under C:\IBMTOOLS\APPS\RECNOW. It may just be necessary to run a repair.

OK..reinstalled from Tools folder....still the same as before...no recorder.
Tried System Restore but will not restore to any previous points.
Will need to reformat i suppose...problem is i have so many files i need to keep...accounts etc that i must save before reformatting so i do need to get this sorted.
This all started when i installed Nero...came bundled with a new external multi burner...laptop kept freezing when i tried to use it...Nero that is...uninstalled Nero and nothing but problems since.
Also downloaded and used Nero Clean Tool from Nero website.

Solved
All fine
Why i didn't think to update Sonic after re-installing it i don't know...the no drive attached had me thinking it was hardware.
Just did the update on a chance and all back to normal now
Dumbo
Anyone had task-bar problems after uninstalling Nero...my quick launch disappears each reboot now...even though quick launch and lock the taskbar option are ticked.
