Restore questions

#1 Post by crparr » Tue May 15, 2007 7:00 pm

Hi!

I'm trying to restore a Thinkpad T40 to the factory defaults.

What I did:
The TP did not boot anymore - therefor I took a WinXP Pro SP1a CD and installed it freshly. The key was accepted on install, but rejected on activation.

I'd now like to do a complete restore, but:
- when I press access ibm within Windows nothing happens.
- when I press it at bootup, I can Access the Predesktop area, but I cannot find the Rescue & Restore utility.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance.

Christopher

What items can you see in the pre-desktop area? Should be something like Restore Factory Contents.

All I can see is:
- Utilities
- Preferences
- Information
- Help
- Quit

Any Idea?

Thanks
