X31 - annoying Cisco WiFi card random power-on problem
I got refubrished X31 (2672-CXU) with Cisco Aironet Wifi card. It is wonderful machine but there is one annoying issue. It did fresh install from HPA with drivers updated by Software Installer (including BIOS and Embedded Controller).
The Fn+F5 works ok but the WiFi automatically goes on within few minutes (when doing Windows Update for example) or just by opening Newtwork Connections in Control Panel, if previously switched off by the Fn+F5. I uninstalled Access Connections but the problem persists. It also goes automatically on atfer restart or resuming from hibernation. Is it a known problem ? On my R51 the Wifi on/off state always persists. Thanks.

Mmmm, sounds strange. I've an X31 and if I turn off, stays off.
On the opposite, the latest driver turns automatically off the wifi if no hotspot (or no allowed connection to a ...) is present.

Package version in Support Info: 10.5.1.0 API
Driver version in Windows Device Manager:
2200BG - 9.0.4.26
Actually there's a newer release but I've not installed it since it solves only a bug with Intel 3945ABG/3945BG minipci cards... and I've a 2200BG installed.

Problem solved. First, the Software Installer didn't show Cisco Systems Mini PCI Wireless LAN driver update. Second, both Fn+F5 and the Aironet Client Utility can switch the WiFi card on/off, but to make the state persistent you have to switch it by the Aironet utility.
