Advice for new ThinkPad Owner

#1 Post by JustSaber » Thu May 17, 2007 4:21 pm

Hello everyone! I finally got my new T60p (Vista Home Premium) today and am currently getting it ready to run. So far, I have created a backup through Rescue and Recovery and am currently burning a set of rescue discs.

Couple of questions:

1. Can someone explain the difference between rescue discs, recovery discs, and backup discs?

2. Why did I receive a Vista Upgrade disc? It came preloaded, so how would I use it on a different hard drive? Do I just use the code?

Sorry for the newb queries. Also, any advice on where to proceed from here would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Oh, one more question:

How should I go about getting rid of the preloaded junk like Norton? Use Control Panel like usual or something else?

My experience with Vista (RC1) is that you install/uninstall just like XP or 2000. You might have to get rid of Aero first (I did, just to preserve my sanity). After that, I just followed my nose, and everything worked liked prior systems. ... JDH
