help! Which usb2 dvd will work for x40?

Here what I mean works is as following:

1) Can boot from it.
2)If I only read the dvd, I do not need to use the external power.

Can the following models work for x40?

1)liteon 8x usb2 431sx,

The Liteon requires external power even if you are just reading the DVD

1. Whether or not you can boot from what ever is plugged into your USB port (1.1 or 2.0) depends on your BIOS and the removable media you use. If your BIOS supports the USB port as a selectable boot source than yes. And of course your media will have to contain boot files.

2. Not certain but my guess is if it requires external power, I'm quite sure it's needed for all task. I'd relay this question to the seller.
