Dell Shows Off Super-Slim Display Port LCD Monitor (PIC)

#1 Post by gator » Fri May 18, 2007 6:25 pm

Good news to all high-high-res aficionados: Dell has shown off a new display port enabled LCD that measures about half an inch thick and packs a resolution that's 4x sharper than the current HDTV resolutions:

Wow that's a beauty and very ultra thin. I like it.
Everyting, including audio, microphone, panel I/O and more will all go through a single bi-directional cable.
I prefer the single cable idea too.
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.

If they can make a non-glossy version of this for future laptops, it'd be fantastic (and expensive)!

I can't really say from the pic if its the screent that is glossy or the glass-thingy they have in the front that is causing all these reflections. The best part about that display is the size of the bezel, it is very thin.

Only the display port technology is Dell. You can bet that the LCD is an OEM from a Japanese/Korean/Taiwanese supplier.

both technologies are borrowed. read the wikipedia for port technology. this happens all too frequently with many companies. For instance, Marantz has one of the best high-definition plasma lines, but their panels are not their one. To the best of my knowledge they are NEC panels. Same way with pioneer and so on and so on. Pioneer Elite series panels are NEC's as well, dont flame me though if they end up being something else!
