Extracting Password from Fingerprint Reader

#1 Post by wswartzendruber » Sat May 19, 2007 10:21 am

I set a BIOS and power-on a long time ago and forgot them. Is there a way to extract them from the finger-print chip?
Model: Lenovo ThinkPad T400
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 (2.26 GHz, 1067 MHz FSB, 3 MB L2 Cache)
RAM: 4 GB PC-8500 (1067 MHz, Dual-channel)
HDD: 500 GB, 54000 RPM
Audio: Conexant CX20561 (192 kHz, 24-bit)
Video: Intel GMA 4500MHD
Wireless: Intel 5300

Sorry, I don't think so you can. :(
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.

Joe in Australia can obtain your password, but its not free and you need to build a small RS232 device and dismantle your T60:

T43 P4M 1.7GHz, 1GB, 80GB
T41 P4M 1GB 60GB
T30 x2
T23 x2
T22 x2
T21 x3
T20 x3

I don't remember how or where, but I'm sure you can reset all your password if you still remember where is your finger.

Anyways, that will allow you to change the pass, not to recover it. Password encryption algorithms are one-way and not reversible., of course.

Try playing with Thinkvantage Client Security Solution.

Thanks for the tips, but I was able to remember my password. :)
