For those who use VMWare, and I know there are several who mention it, what firewall do you use on your Windows host machine?

I've been botherer that in using ZoneAlarm, the only way I can get the guest machine's networking to work (bridged network) is to turn down the Internet Security Zone (in ZA on the host) from High to Medium.

I use Symantec Client Security Corporate 3.1 for the host (note to Wags: Symantec != Norton). It works well, does not need any change in settings for VMware. Note that the firewall (any firewall - I used to use BlackIce) needs the host-only and Nat range of IP's allowed in the host firewall settings. ... JDH

^ Am aware of that.

But the quirk in ZA is that it only works with the Internet Security Zone set at Medium (and Low I suppose). Unfortunately, in the free version you can't tell exactly what this does, other than some vague references in the ZA support site.

So I guess I'm considering a different firewall, base only on usage with VMware.

I've been using the Comodo firewall. I have had no networking issues with either VPC or VMWare.
