T61 with camera is out

#1 Post by izl101 » Mon May 21, 2007 9:08 am

I checked lenovo website this morning and saw T61 with camera is out

14.1 WXGA TFT, w/o Camera
14.1 WXGA+ TFT, w/o Camera [add $22.50]
14.1 WXGA TFT, w/ Camera [add $22.50] [New]
14.1 WXGA+ TFT, w/ Camera [add $45.00] [New]

I am in a market for T61, and I would like to hear some suggestions about T61. Should I get it with or without camera? Thanks for reply.

Why not? I think it's a nice option to include.

I read it's apparently a 1.3 Megapixel one, or something similiar which is nice.

this is probably a silly question, but when they say camera do they mean like a cell phone camera or a webcam?

Integrated camera, no doubt on the top of the lid where the ThinkLight™ usually is. The quality however is yet to be seen. For 45 bucks, it is a nice option to have and what I think a few people were waiting on.

I'd wait until Linux drivers come out for it.

What's the difference? Were you thinking of asking if it could take stills and video? If so, I believe it does both.

Also, it'll be interesting to see how this is managed, will there be a new Think utility for capturing images etc.

And I noticed Windows XP has been removed as an option for the OS! That is not good.

Also surprised they are not showing options for extra bateries. I want a 4 cell to fit flush and a 7 when I have to ue it. And WSXGA, of course, which is what is holding me back from pulling the trigger.

I noticed that, too, on Friday. It seems that that's only the case with the models including the nVidia GPU. The units with integrated graphics still have XP as on OS option.

Camera was speculated, it's a very handy requirement for users in need.

I hope they sweeten the pot by introducing more models soon.

On the WXGA+ model its an extra 45 bucks. I assumed thats the display most people would jump on.

No, WXGA+ is $22.50 over WXGA. Plus the camera for $22.50 makes $45.00

How much does the camera add to the weight of the laptop?
Microsoft Surface 3 (Atom x7-Z8700 / 4GB / 128GB / LTE)
Dell OptiPlex 9010 SFF (Core i3-3220 / 8GB / 8TB); HP 8300 Elite minitower (Core i7-3770 / 16GB / 9.25TB)
Acer T272HUL; Crossover 404K; Dell 3008WFP, U2715H, U2711, P2416D; Monoprice 10734; QNIX QHD2410R; Seiki Pro SM40UNP

Over the BASE display option, adding a camera to the (presumed choice of) WXGA+ is 45 dollars.

Grams? I'd think the added weight would be negligible.

looks also like the 64-bit options have been removed. a call into lenovo confirms that those options will be added back in. he said to continuously check the site.

also, in regards to wsxga+, don't expect that option on the 14.1 screens. the rep with whom i spoke said that wsxga+ would only be available on the 15.4 screens. he said that nobody manufactures a 14.1 wsxga+ panel currently. indeed, when i did the math, the required ppi is ~140.5.

Yes, most thinkpads (if not all) come equipped with microphones. Are you asking whether the webcam has a mic of its own?

Shockingly, the A-series appears not to have microphones!

No. I just wanted to know if it will support skype out of the box. When I check the thinkpad configurations (lenovo canada website) they dont mention about the microphone, thats why wanted to know
