eraser not working.

I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong, but I can't get the eraser on the x60T to work. I've enabled it in the pen setting tool box, the erase icon shows up when I use the pen upside-down. But I cant erase in Onenote or Windows Journal. Any tips?

I have a x60 tablet. wouldn't pressing down on it cause scratches?
