Motherboard varieties 2647, 2648, etc

#1 Post by -nick » Mon May 21, 2007 2:35 pm

Are all T21/20 motherboards interchangeable? It looks like the 2647 and 2648 boards are the major variety and there are also flavors of each one? Is there a list out there of which board has which features?

I have a 2648 that needs replacing. Are there upgrade opportunities "while I'm in there"?

Thanks!

You can use a T20-T22 systemboard, as long as the original T20 wasn't the oddball 13.3" LCD (I think). You can also put in up to a 1.0GHz CPU, with a T22 fan, to help keep it cool.

I've never heard of the screen size having anything to do with whether or not a motherboard will fit. Now, I know that if you have an SXGA+ model T21, you HAVE to use an SXGA+ capable motherboard; the motherboards from the T20 and XGA T21s won't work.

I took apart my T20 (originally a 13") as well as a friend's T21 to swap screens and I couldn't see anything in the bottom chassis that looked different.

Get the Hardware Maintenance Manual here, it has all the parts with numbers, descriptions etc.
