New Thinkpad T41 for ME!!!! :)

#1 Post by captbunzo » Tue May 22, 2007 7:14 am

I really love thinkpads...

Just bought a new Thinkpad T41 off of ebay and am really pumped! Finally my wife will get to inherit our older one. Woot!

Here are the specs:
Product Description: ThinkPad T41 2373 - Pentium M 1.6 GHz - 14.1" SXGA 1400*1050
Built-in Devices: Stereo speakers, wireless LAN aerial, ThinkLight, Bluetooth aerial
Processor: Intel Pentium M 1.6 GHz
RAM: 1G PC2700
Hard Drive: 80 GB
Optical Storage: CD-RW / DVD-ROM combo - removable plug-in module
Display: 14.1"active matrix 1400 x 1050 ( SXGA+ ) - 24-bit (16.7 million colours)
Graphics Controller: ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 - 32 MB
Networking: Network adapter - Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth, IEEE 802.11b, IEEE 802.11a, IEEE 802.11g

Can anyone guess for me whether that 80 GB hard drive is going to be 5400 or 4200 RPM?

Thanks!

So, getting this for £450, did I get taken or is that a good price? I didn't think it was bad, but I don't follow these prices THAT much.

I was happy to find one with an SXGA+ screen, 1 GB of RAM, and a decent sized hard drive.

Whatcha all think?

Hello,

I could do a mistake, but 450£ = 665€ = 900$ ?

If I'm not wrong, I think it's rather expensive.

The site where I bought my T23 is selling one here :

http://laptopservice.fr/p-infos.php?ref=23748RG

It's less powerful than yours, but I think you shouldn't have payed so much. Maxi 500 or 550€ if it's in mint condition, not more... :(

Perhaps you mistyped the price. Is it really 450£ ?

I think it most definately is 5400, since that probably is the most powerful T41 (not T41p) available.

In the UK, that is a pretty good price.

Regarding the 2374-8RG from Laptopservice.fr, which is the most basic model - also a good price actually, but i's much less powerfull, comparing the two:

- SXGA+ vs. XGA
- Radeon 9000 was pretty rare, but double the speed of 7500.
- 1 GB memory vs. 256 MB
- 80 GB 5400 vs. 40 GB 5400
- WLAN and bluetooth vs. WLAN upgradeable and no bluetooth.

Why obsolete? If it match your needs it's new.

Does your wife get obsolete after X number of years?

hehe

Thanks for all the info, folks. I think I am pretty happy with the price.

As much as I was sort of looking forward to modding my current thinkpad (T30) to sup it up a bit, I am glad to upgrade to something a little more robust to start with. And now I can pass the T30 off to my non-obsolete wife, which will make her ecstatic.

Thanks again. Maybe I'll post some pics (hahaha) when I get it in later today. :)
