What is the driver for Z61m IEEE 1394 firewire controller?

#1 Post by 314 » Tue May 22, 2007 10:22 am

My fear of bloatware caused me to make the mistake of attempting a custom Windows XP install on a Z61m. After a great deal of effort I managed to get almost all of the drivers installed. Unfortunately, the machine still locks up in shutdown and standby.

Looking at the Device manager, I see only one yellow ("This device cannot start. (Code 1)) device. It is called "Texas Instruments OHCI Compliant IEE 1394 Host Controller". Clicking on the properties tab for this device also yields "Location: PCI bus 21, device 0, function 1".

Does anyone know what driver I could install to make this enabled? I don't normally use firewire but before going further I want to get all the drivers installed correctly since I still have a few lingering issues and it could be a cause.

There are only two other drivers not working officially working. One is called "PCI Device", and the machine asks me to install the driver for it each time I boot. However, it isn't shown in the device manager. For this reason, I think it is probably the same device as the 1394 adapter. The last driver not officially working is the Sierra EVDO modem. If anyone knows where that driver is off the top of their head let me know since I'd like to install it as well.

But if you own a Z61m, please put devmgmt.msc in your run box and tell me what driver you are using for the 1394 adapter. Thanks.

I'm having the same problem with my R60.

the other PCI device is probably the Atmel TPM or Power Management Driver.

A great workaround for this problem has been provided here:
