It wasn't the money I was referring to, and I don't find it amusing.

I looked at the specs of the Reserve Edition. I don't know what was up with the casing, but I thought it was specs-wise just an X61 wrapped in leather.

$5000 may not have been worth it, but $3000 isn't as bad when you consider that the main appeal is in the services you're backed up with. I think they dropped the price when they made the services optional.
X61 Tablet - 1.6GHz C2D, SXGA+, 1GB RAM, 100GB HD, Vista Business.

i have other laptops but i'll be honest i never use 'em

The further you go back, the more expensive ThinkPads were. The IBM 701C was over $4000 when it was first released, and I think some of the full-size 7-series models with CD-ROMs were 5 grand or more. One of the reasons I still have a 701C and 755CD (with tv tuner option, no less) is I'm still a little awed by the fact I have these dream machines, purchased for ~$50 total. :)

Where can I find the leather case so I could use it around my X61. Why didn't they provide this case separately too.

The point of Reserve Edition would be wasted if they start doing that, I think you haven't read the details about the premium leather on the website:
