Are 160GB hard drives _BAD_?

#1 Post by jhonyl » Wed May 23, 2007 9:35 am

Hi,

I want to upgrade my HD from 40 GB to 160 GB IDE 5400 RPM. The problem is that in the product users reviews for these HDs there are usually only a few reviews and most of them are bad reviews due to broken HDs that have failed. So I wonder if only a few guys that had bad luck took the time to write the review, or is it the general experience with these HDs. If you have, or had this HD please write for how long you have had it, which model it is, and how many times it has broke on you yet...

Thanks :)

I personally believe PMR technology is not mature in terms of reliability and power consumption yet. Well, at least the Seagate offerings.

I have been using the HTS541616J9SA00 160GB for about 2 weeks now and so far I have not yet had this broken (and I hope it doesn't). But as a background info, my PC never leaves my desk. So my opinion might not be usable for you.
