T60p, replacing hard drive, clean install windows vista

#1 Post by nomissa » Wed May 23, 2007 4:28 pm

I recently purchased a new hard drive for my T60p, and I was wondering how I should go about installing and transferring files to the new drive.

I realize one option is to clone the old drive, and then copy it onto the new one. But is it possible to start from scratch and reinstall all the original software? (i.e. clean install of windows vista) I'd like to be able to install ALL the software the original hard drive came with. Is this possible? If so, how do I do it?

Edit: On a similar note, how do I create a recovery CD?

Go to Start > All Programs > ThinkVantage > Create Recovery Media.

You will need at least 1 CD and 1 DVD to burn all files. You can then use these discs to reinstall the factory OS into your new drive and customize your installation by selecting programs to install using Base Software Selector.
