Video sluggishness after reinstalling XP

#1 Post by pmartin245 » Wed May 23, 2007 9:12 pm

Howdy. First time Thinkpad owner here.

Got a Thinkpad R32 type 2658 and reinstalled XP. As expected, I have a few drivers I would have to download and install from the Thinkpad support site. After the XP install, I found that "Video Controller (VGA Compatible)" did not have a driver. So, I installed what I thought was the video driver that was listed on the Thinkpad support site, but after installing and restarting, the "Video Controller" still had no driver installed.

Any help would be appreciated guys.

Also, the volume buttons beep upon pressing, but aren't controlling the volume either. I remember the green bars that would pop up before, but those aren't showing either. Again, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Did you check the device driver matrix for your model thinkpad on the levono website? Try this link below:

You still need the right video drivers and the utility that makes the additional keyboard keys work. For the last item I think you need the 'hotkeys features' utility.

One thing I noticed when running the downloaded drivers from the levono website is that most of the time they won't automatically install the driver.

Running the downloaded .exe file will only extract the drivers to your harddrive (usually in c:\drivers\.. ). You will still have to manually run the setup.exe for the driver from there.

Thanks a bunch! Seems like I made a mistake and thought that simply running the downloaded .exe would install the drivers.
