Need help Access IBM NTLDR is missing
Hello, I am getting frustrated. Please help. When i turn on my T40 and press the blue button, Access IBM. It will take me to NTLDR is missing, Press Ctrl+Alt+del to restart. But on normal start-up, it will load windows perfectly. What im trying to do is restore my computer to factory setting with the hidden partition. Am I missing something? Do I still have partition hidden? Please let me know.

If Windows still works as you say, hopefully one of these two solutions may help, unfortunately it all depends on which Recovery version you have as these options were not always available.
1) If available use Rapid Restore or Rescue and Recovery in Windows to recover.
2) If available create recovery media in Windows.
If these are not possible, try the relevant version of the repair tools found here:

Good Luck

Hello! I have a problem with hidden partition on my IBM T41 with HDD 40 Gb. In Win XP I see ~ 33 Gb, therefore I have it, but when I try to enter to R&R using F11 key I have no result.
I used recover utility from IBM, but it gave me this message:
reparing...
Error in MBR data. Possibly not a Lenovo MBR, so exiting.
writing fdisk mbr...
After that notebook rebooted. Does anybody know how to recover MBR?

Sorry, next question; in BIOS what is the setting for the Pre Desktop Area? (Could be in Startup or Security, I can't remember). If it's normal, the repair disk should have worked. If it's set to secure the repair disk cannot work - set it to normal and try again.

I have come across this error quite a few times. Other than a simple corruption of the registry that was repaired with a Winternals repair CD I have never been able to successfully recover a system with this error. At first I spent hours following the MS KB with every suggestion. Now I simply reinstall.
One thing to consider is that in a system with multiple HDD's the BIOS may not point to the correct startup drive. This mainly applies to a desktop and would usually not be an issue with a ThinkPad or any other lesser (thank you PCA!) laptop.
