Wireless drops every 30 seconds on X60

#1 Post by netjack » Thu May 24, 2007 10:42 am

Guys,

I'd love some help here. I've got a wireless setup via a buffalo router and At&t VOIP box behind it. For some weird reason, my AC drops wireless every 30 seconds. It reconnects just fine after I click the "connect" button. My signal strength is plenty strong. I'm pretty certain it's not the router because my wife has a t60 and she never drops with her AC. I've tried toggling location switching, WEP security settings, etc. but for the life of me can't figure this out.

Any advice would be greatly appreciate.

thx

Hey netjack, welcome here! Any chance you could tell us what kind of wireless card you have (e.g., Intel 3945 a/b/g, IBM a/b/g II)? There have been detailed discourses on issues with specific cards and if we knew what you had we might be able to help you.

You might try search the forum for "wireless disconnect", see what you find . . .
T430s 2352-CTO 2.60GHz (i5), 4.0GB, 500GB (7200rpm), 14" HD+, W7 (64)
X201 3249-CTO 2.53GHz (i5), 8.0GB, 500GB (7200rpm), 12" WXGA, W7 (64)

Intel(R) Pro/Wireless 3945ABG

I did a search for "wireless disconnects/drops" and it lead me to threads talking about Access Connections being faulty. But no one mentioned anything about dropping signal every few mins. Nonetheless, I updated to the latest 4.41 version.

Thx for your help

You might also try removing access connections to see if that is effecting your connectivity. I went to the atheros card after beating around with the intel.

IRT the PDF, I think everyone who got some of the first T60's with the intel tried that procedure and it did not work. Get yourself an atheros.
