Any music creators out there?

#1 Post by tfflivemb2 » Thu May 24, 2007 11:37 am

I am looking for a Royalty Free hip-hop beat to use for a Rap Parody video....anyone have the abilities to create one?

Also, I might be looking for some other types of Royalty Free music that I can use for different videos, in the future...

Of course, even though, I say Royalty Free, I will still give the creator credit in the videos.

Hey Steve, my DH writes music and uses several apps on the computer; one that is pretty fun and you don't really need to hook up any instruments to - is Band-in-a-Box. You can download the current trial version, it is normally good for one month. You can use all the applications except the Save As and Notation features. Maybe you can download this and choose a cool Hip Hop rhythm and have it playing in the background while you tape your video?? Just a thought.

Parody qualifies under fair use, so just use your least-favourite "song" and you're good to go.

@Purcy: I'll check out Band-in-a-Box....but I am hoping that someone with a little more talent will prevail...

@qviri: I understand the fair-use issue, but I want to setup a Hip-Hop/Rap Parody video without pinpointing anyone specific. (ie. using their "song"). I am not quite Weird Al....

No talent needed, the music loop is created by band-in-a-box and just plays and plays until you shut it off. It is used for adding rhythm to a tune you might be composing, say if you wanted to lay down a piano line with a hip hop rhythm background (oh lord!!) you would click on Hip Hop style and this music starts playing. Again, no talent needed.

You can do it Steve

Hang on, I'll send my husband over, he works that thing like you wouldn't believe. But I was just playing around and have gotten stuck in that music hell warp when you click too many buttons. That is when you click the little black X in the upper right corner of the screen.

OK, I am playing with it a little more....I have the sylemaker going on...I have it in drum mode, and am liking the sounds that I am getting, but I am having a hard time figuring out how to tell it what notes I want in what order....does that make sense?

Oh yes, Stylemaker is where you can pick from the many music styles. Fool around with the different instruments too, it is very cool. As for laying down the notes, you need to midi a keyboard into that computer Steve, which unless you have one, you just find a rhythm track choosing the style of music you want and the different instruments; and you can select several instruments to get a teeny little band going on your computer 8) Oh, and then there are adjustments for the speed of the rhythm too.

If you don't get anything going with that program, I may be able to help. I have a guitar effects pedal which has a few dozen preloaded beats and rhythms, and I think it has a few hip-hop ones. I could record a few minutes of one of these and e-mail the mp3/wav to you.

Would you possibly be making an early 90s, Fresh Prince-style rap? If so, my 1989 DC Talk album may have the beat you're looking for.
