IBM T60 Problem with Access Connect, Hotkey & System Upd

#1 Post by fahim » Thu May 24, 2007 5:04 pm

Hi,
I bought some days ago a refurbished T60 (with new systemboard and without IBM warranty) from ebay and got now some problems with vista.

First: After looking the bios options I was a bit surprised, because there is no serial or product code listed in the plase where there should be one.

Now I installed vista and all drivers, and I got following problems:

System Update want to check my product code, but does find an strange product code (see picture). After confirmation of that code I will get a Package error 75. Does anybody know if I can choose manually my product code? (Normally it is 2008-Z45)

Access Connections does say on startup of vista that it is not compatible with vista. I am 100% sure that I installed the vista AC software... does anybody know this problem?

Last: I can not access to the speaker buttons and I do not get any graphical screen when I use the Fn+... Button. I did install the hotkey driver for vista. Does anybody knows that problem too?

Thank you very much

Check out the following threads...

Note, you will need to check the Hardware Maintenance Manual for the version level of the Hardware Maintenance Diskette necessary for your T60. Unfortunately, this diskette is not available to consumers.

Just to note Gom. The HMD is still available for download like mentioned in the 2nd thread.

Just download it from following URL: ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/pccbbs/bp ... tm22us.exe

Last time my mainboard got exchanged by a lenovo technican he also forgot to apply the correct serial number. The disc did the trick without having to call support a second time and wait 1-2 days.

You have to run the tool from a floppy. Otherwise you won't be able to bypass the bios write protection. The only alternative to a hotbay floppy drive would be a usb floppy.

For system update it is only necessary to have the model number stored in bios.
