no actually i dont think the lights there so u can find ports in the darkness heheheh thats just silly....
the light indicates that the drives plugged in and working.... the reason the light stays on even thru standby mode is simply because even on standby, the comp isnt technically 'off'
hibernate it and it will go off.... that because hibernation actually switches the laptop off while standby just puts it to 'sleep'. its still very much on.... ur laptop is as normal as anyone else's

re:
that green light is aswell on when you're using the advanced ultrabay battery... when you're working unplugged then you can stop that by ejecting the drive slot, just remember to push it back in when you leave your desk else you'll kick it away...zahir wrote:no actually i dont think the lights there so u can find ports in the darkness heheheh thats just silly....

Standby uses the battery relatively fast, I could only standby for about 3-4 days, but hibernate could probably go for weeks, never turned off my computer for so long so I don't know how fast the battery depletes when powered off.
However, depending on your amount of RAM and the version of Windows you use, hibernate could actually take longer than powering off. I never used hibernate until recently, when I discovered accidentally that XP is quite fast going into hibernation.

Hibernate can go forever (at least until the hardware breaks down), since the power is off. In other words, you can remove the battery in Hibernate mode and it will wake up to the same state afterwards.

sounds interesting, bcs i'm using the sleep mode till now and the battery drainage is quite okey over 10 hours i'm loosing only like 10-15% of battery capacity but this way even that would be no problem anymore... how about the necessary storage capacity for the hibernation? and how long does it take to boot the notebook agian?
