logging data when closed

#1 Post by allan » Fri May 25, 2007 4:58 am

Hi all,
I'm planning a setup for fieldwork that involves logging data from a GPS and depth sounder. It will be in a small boat so I want the laptop closed and in a case. I don't have the gear with me so I can't test, so the question is will the TP continue to record (for a couple of hours) without shutting down if I turn off all the standy/powersaving stuff, as well as set the "do nothing" option when closing the lid?
Thanks.

I've since suspected that it would overheat under those conditions.

Maybe you can set your thinkpad to operate in the "Optimal battery performance" mode? Because that mode will clock down your CPU and GPU, what means: less heat.
