I've never had a tablet and am also worried that the screen will get scratched over time. Would those who've used tablets give some feedback?

I would think the glass panel was designed to prevent scratches, but I do have a screen protector on my tablet just in case.
I'm using a WriteShield, but it's pretty expensive though for a screen protector.

Yes, it'll scratch. I've scratched my x41t, and was rather bummed out when it happened. However, the screen surface is resistant to a lot. Take your chances.

Scratches over time are unavoidable with extensive use of the stylus. Some scratches are hard to see and some are really an eye catcher. If one find scratches are disturbing, it is better to use a screen protector, I think.

I'm looking for something more reasonably priced, since I would likely change it out every few weeks.

Someone at Office Depot said to use contact paper but that seems messy. A properly sized SLICKER might work.

I already have tons of scratches on my Tablet Sleeve screen protector so I imagine I would have "some" on the tablet screen before long if I wasn't using it. The tablet screen protector on the sleeve is also seperated and quite shiny so it doesn't look as good as a protector that is adhered to the screen.

I tried a protector from 3M and found it almost impossible to attach it without any captured particels under it. It is not easy to attach a protector onto the 3,5" screen of a pocket pc, wihtout dust and bubbles but with 12" the problem gets severe.

Is it possible to replace the outer layer of the tablet screen, by ordering a part from Lenovo?

The anti-scratch surfaces i've seen recently have come a long way since the Palm III i used to have. That thing would get tons of scratches especially over the graffiti input area. Modern surfaces are much tougher, as long as you keep it clean and free of sand & dust.

A felt tip nib replacement on the digitizer pen may also reduce the number of scratches.

Small bubbles go away on their own over time. Dusts usually hang around and don't go away by themselves so just be careful.

It's really not a good option. It a hassle taking it in and out all the time if you want to use the keyboard and stuff... Don't buy that bag, unless you use your tablet outdoor and with the stylus only.

I have the sleeve, but the plastic is removable and I'd like to remove it. It's very reflective and doesn't make contact with the screen. It takes a bit to get used to. Mainly you lose video quality. I would like to buy the plastic sheets mentioned above for 5 for $10. 15 bucks is just insane for 1,

Do any of these screen protectors have a noticeable effect on the inking experience? I can see the tablet sleeve as having an effect. Do any of the other products, like the adhesive super-thin screen protectors, change the inking experience?

I used a Strong Engineering protector on my M205 (Toshiba) for a couple years.

Inked great.

Went on with no problems.

I usually got a couple months per sheet.

I'm not sure how it will fit the X60 edges though.
Will give it a shot.

I put the Strong Engineering protector on the X61T and it fits fine. It was easy to put on and correcting the position wasn't a problem. Doesn't seem to impair inking at all.

My only issues with the protector are:
1) the 3-4mm wide strips of adhesive along the edges of the protector are very visible and the inside edge of the adhesive looks like a black line spanning the screen.

2) It adds a little bit of glare to the screen. No where near as bad as laptops with non-matte screens though.

One tip for keeping trapped dust to a minimum is to apply the protector in a bathroom after you've taken a hot shower (or let the hot water run in the shower for a few minutes). When the air gets steamy, it knocks out a lot of the dust in the air. You can wait a few minutes so the humidity doesn't harm your computer, just not so long that the air gets dry and dust comes back.

I've applied protectors to several other electronic devices this way, and don't have any visible dust spots anywhere, so I think it's worth a try.
