Short question to the memory slot issue

#1 Post by maber » Sat May 26, 2007 5:21 am

Hello everybody,

I read a lot of the memory slot issue here in the forum and also on other sites.

So, finally I have just one short question:
Where do I have to put the paper or the cardboard to get the memory recognized? Underneath the memory brick or above the memory? Or somewhere at the edge? Does maybe someone has a picture or a drwaing for me, where it is shown?
Because I did not understand it very well here in the forum.

Thanks for you assistance and help.

Greets

Hello and welcome to the Thinkpad Community. I do believe the small piece of paper is laid on after the memory chips are clipped into their slots and positioned correctly. Then whichever slot is faulty, just put your small piece of folded up paper, and you may have to play with the thickness of it, on top of the clipped-in chip and gently put the cover back on and secure the screw back in. The wad of paper is only to add gently pressure to make sure your chip makes proper seating contact.

Hello,

Just bend the metal arms a little to each other and you will feel the memory card will snap in position again.

A little means just 0.5-1mm

@ Pircy:
Thank you for your welcome greets. :D

@Msmax
Which metal arms do you mean? The one on each side, which hold the memory card?

Thanks for your short reply.

Yes, those are the ones which keep the memory card in place.
If they are new then you feel a "click" when the memory card is pressed in place.

As soon they worn out, then even touching the card can already release it from it's position.
