Ridiculous estimated shiping dates for T61's (08/29/07)

I and some other people got estimated shipping dates of 08/29/07 for T61's ordered within the last few days.. that's more than 3 months! Does anybody know if this is a normal behavior of the Lenovo ordering system (I mean showing such a long wait within the first few days after the order has been placed), or is it just that so many T61's have been ordered that they run out of stock?

The same thing happened to me, which is odd...

See, I originally ordered the T61 with integrated graphics, but changed my mind. So after requesting an order change (and its been about a week), I asked the tech to just cancel the order entirely so that I could replace it--since I was calling every few days to see if they'd made the changes, which was getting to be a bit much. The thing is, the estimated shipping date on it was 6/1.

Once I replaced the order with dedicated graphics, the ship date is now 8/29... I really hope that's just an over-exaggeration (plenty of people have had outrageous shipping dates and then gotten it in a week), but I'm a bit worried. One of the techs made an offhand comment that the T61s hadn't started shipping yet--which I know to be false--but it was only a brief aside.

i remember a lot of delays with the T60 when it first came out in ealry 2006.

worse, they'd tell someone 2-3 weeks, then when the time came up, it was delayed another few weeks. Then same thing again. And it would up being a couple of months.

instead of the above, at least you're being told 3 months upfront. It may arrive much earlier, who knows. But at least you'll have it before Sept which is key for the likes of students.

if you have a little flexibilty, order it on the phone... sometimes lenovo has some configurations already in stock and/or know when some configs are arriving, or what configs are delaying it. You probably chose an option that's holding it up several weeks.

The date is just an estimate. In most cases the machine ships before it.
