Check the boot order in your BIOS. Make sure that it is set to boot from the CD/DVD drive before it boots from the hard drive.
New:

sorry about that question? i didn't mean for it to sound rude.

i had that problem too when i first started. it turned out that my boot order was messed up. my hard drive would load before my cd drive.

Is your "Vista from work" an original DVD or a copy? If the latter: Thinkpads often don't boot from DVD+R disks, they only boot from DVD-R media. Once booted, they can read both, though.

it's "boot cd/dvd" on the first boot option. it's a oem i think. anyway, i will install direct from win, too much trouble by troubleshooting :o.

cheers
