Extended warranty coverage

#1 Post by DenTP4rm » Mon May 28, 2007 9:47 am

For those of you who may be needing some info on warranties, I thought the following would be useful. There is a good general overview on warranties at Notebookreviews:
http://www.notebookreview.com/default.a ... anty+guide
There are relevant links to Lenovo & other manufacturers.

From that page I found out Visa covers you for up to an extra year over the mfg. warranty if you purchased via Visa. Similar coverage for Amex, MC, etc.
See http://usa.visa.com/personal/cards/bene ... l#anchor_3

Hodad had an interesting experience to report over at http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=43236
which is kind of what got me started on this. If anybody has any other helpful input let's hear from you.

thanks,

Good work!

BTW: I just bought a BRAND new X60 tablet from ebay (on 1 june 2007) and when I checked online it showed 2010-02-11 which I guess 4 months were lost to me.

Anyone knows if the warranty starts when I register the tablet online or it must start from that online status regardless if the tablet has been sitting in the warehouse for 4 months?

Thanks

If you buy directly from lenovo, the warranty period starts when the machine gets manufacturing date stamped on it's back while it leaves asian warehouse to it's final destination. If you buy from ebay the warranty should already be in progress as it sits down in someones home/office/warehouse.

when the machine out from the factory the warantty start date will be give extra 2 month as the vendor may take some time to keep the machine till he sells it, however if your machine warantty start date is not accurate what u can do is u can call the Technical support and tell them u wanna update ur warantty status and provided them the POP ( proof of purchase ) which the pop must have your machine type and serial number
