Booting from the pcmcia

#1 Post by dmdsoftware » Mon May 28, 2007 1:16 pm

I was wondering if it is possible to boot an X60 from the pcmcia slot. I wanted to run a microdrive from a pcmcia to compact flash converter, and I wanted to evaluate if it is possible to boot from this setup.

Anyone give this a try?
X62 & X62s & X62T SXGA+ i7 5600u 8-16GB
Helix i7
Carbon X1 i5 UHD
W520 4x-i7
Sony Vaio P799 (8" LED 1600x768)
"Think" Ultrabook i7
LegoThinkpad 11"

in storage:
X131e AMD
X60/X60s, X61/X61s/X61T, T61, T420, X30

past:
X20-X24, 390X

X60/s BIOS doesn't support PC card slot as a boot device.

Are you positive about this? Did previous models allow you to? I have successfully booted of the PCMCIA adapter on older Thinkpads... T2x etc... (Once from a pcmcia-ide cd adapter and also from a ~30MB old-school pcmcia hard disk)

CURRENT: X60s
PREVIOUSLY: 240 390E 560 560X 570 600 i1400 A21m A22m T21 T22 T23 T40 X20
BEST: 570 T40 X60s
WORST: 600 i1400 A2x
