Unknown hardware in T40 Device Manager

#1 Post by sktn77a » Wed May 30, 2007 10:05 am

I have an error in Device manager under "System Devices" - I have a yellow exclamation mark under "Thinkpad PM Device". I upgraded the BIOS and the power management software to the latest versions a few months back when I put in a new IBM a/b/g wirelss card in place of the old "b" card.

Anybody got any ideas?

Thanks
Keith

You probably need the Power Management (ACPI) driver. This is in addition to Power Manager (which you already have) or Battery MaxiMiser and Power Management Features (which is what is supposed to be on the T40 instead of Power Manager).

Drivers and software - ThinkPad T40, T40p, T41, T41p
DKB

Thanks, I'll try that tonight when I get home. There was no problem until I updated the power management driver but I'll download the ACPI driver and see if that cures the problem.

When I was restoring my t40 the other day, it also had some of those. I just right click on the yellow exclamation and it automatically download the driver. Do that to each one.

Well, the right-click couldn't find anything but I uninstalled the device and rebooted and it installed itself again just fine.
