Hi
I've gotten a hold of an old R30, 2656-62g.
But when I try to boot, it complains about a dead cmos battery, irq not configured, rtc error.
0250 system battery is dead, replace and run setup
0270 Real time clock error
After that is goes into setup automatically.
Is there any way to resurrect it? Where is the cmos battery located?

I am not sure about some of the other issues (IRQ error), though it could be related to the CMOS (RTC - real time clock) battery.
The CMOS battery is located under the keyboard, approximately under the left side of the spacebar. Accessing the cell requires the removal of the keyboard. The steps are outlined in the hardware maintenance manual which is available from Lenovo's website.
Don't worry; the procedure is extremely simple, though you will need a small screwdriver. I recommend opening the laptop and resting on its side (like a book) so that as you remove the keyboard, it will not fall onto the LCD screen. Watch out for the keyboard ribbon cable as well, it is fragile. The battery is part number 02K7062, though you should be able to find a suitable generic replacement.
