Ordering an X61s: Questions
Ordering an X61s: Questions
The prices on the X61s is pretty good, I'll be ordering one within a day or two. I had a few questions first, and hopefully someone can help out.
1) When I choose the L7500 as my processor, they list ""2x2 UltraConnect II antenna" and "2x3 UltraConnect II antenna" as options. What is the difference, and why would I want one over the other? The price is the same...
2) I was planning on buying the minimum RAM (512MB) and buying 2 1GB sticks from Crucial (Lenovo: +$165, Crucial: +$88). However, Lenovo won't let me choose the Turbo Memory. Any ideas? Does this actually have an effect?
3) The X61s uses the same batteries as the X60s, right?
Hopefully that's all the questions I'll have. Thanks!

2x2 and 2x3 are the new 802.11n antenna configurations. The former can send and receive two MIMO datastreams, the latter can receive three for higher throughput. At least in theory, on an uncongested 802.11n network, 2x3 will provide higher performance.

The Intel Turbo memory option only works with Vista right? So, with XP Pro, it is just going to be ignored. i plan to run XP Pro now and then later Vista Ultimate but not for at least a year or so.
Can you buy the turbo card later? It is only $50 now, so maybe it is worth getting even though you have pay for 1 GB of memory from IBM as well.

Technically there is no question, you could install it later, provided you have an open slot. The only question would be where to buy it -- will Lenovo offer it as an accessory, or will you find one on eBay?roblim wrote:Can you buy the turbo card later?
