Error Message - "Not a genuine Lenovo battery"-PIC

#1 Post by captbunzo » Thu May 31, 2007 2:40 pm

Hey folks,

I bought a replacement battery for an old T30 I have. The battery is so much better then the old one, of course. However, now I get this STUPID error message from the Power Manager Gauge.
The battery installed in this computer is not a genuine Lenovo battery and may not meet Lenovo's safety and quality standards. Double click to learn more about genuine Lenovo batteries.
Yeah, I really want to learn more about genuine Lenovo batteries. I KNOW it is a non-name brand battery and am not concerned about that. (side question - should I be for some silly reason?)

Anyhow, this message is annoying and I would like it to stop showing up. Anyone have a clue on how to make it go away?

And, for fun, screenshot included....

You might try fooling around with this registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\IBM\PWRMGR\Data\BalloonStayTime

It may not make the message disappear, but it might minimize its time on the screen.

All the usual warnings concerning mucking about with your registry apply. I am not responsible if you bork your computer.

Thank you for the tip - I will look into that possibility... :)
