Weird wifi
Weird wifi
Hey all,
On my T60P sometimes the wireless connection will just cut out. But the really weird part is that, after it cuts out, if I click on/try to open anything having to do with the connection, i.e. the wifi or thinkvantage connections icons on the bottom right of the screen, or if i try to access any of these or other related programs from elsewhere like the control panel, they will not open. Nothing happens! I manually switch the wifi card off and on and it makes no change. The only thing that fixes it is a restart then it all works again. Then an hour or two later it happens all over.
This just started a few days ago and I don't remember the machine ever doing it before. I've had it for about a month.
Ideas anyone?
(BTW, I already followed the instructions in the PDF by Mr. Hyams regarding wifi settings on a T60..did that as soon as I got the computer)

I have faced the same exact issue which you have described couple of times (~2-3 times) during my last 2 weeks. As you mentioned the problem was fixed when the machine was restarted. Since it did not happen consistently I did not look into it in detail.
T60p - 8743CTO, INTEL CORE DUO T7400, 2GB PC2-5300 667MHZ RAM, ATI MOBILITY FIRE GL V5250 256MB, 100 GB HDDRIVE 7200RPM, 15.4 W SXGA+/ TFT, DVD RECORD_8XMAXDUAL,Vista Business 32bit
not just me
good to know it is not just me. So does anybody know what is going on? Anybody have a solution?
Here is how you fix it:
1)Install the newest driver from Intel website for 3945ABG.
2)Go to Device Manager, choose the wireless adapter, make sure the power transmit is set to maximum perfomance, not maximum power saving and enable throughput enhancement.

Nope. That doesn't work. It is still occuring.
Are you using AC or Windows Default Wireless Manager?

Uninstall AC and see if you are experiencing such a dilemma after that.

Even if you do that, next time that you go back it is power savings. After being [censored] with this issue for days, I figure that you need to change the power settings on power manager to really enable the wifi to work at maximum performance.XIII wrote:Here is how you fix it:
