Do a search; this is a common problem. Normal solution is a new motherboard.

Could be the motherboard OR could be the AC adapter. How did you test the adapter? If you just measured the voltage that may not be enough. There could be a problem with supplying the proper amount of current. The best way to verify that the AC adapter is working is to power a different Thinkpad system with it. Or, use a different AC adpater on your system.

If the AC adapter is working with another Thinkpad, then most likely the problem is on your T20's motherboard. There are four ways that the system can receive power:

- DC input jack on the back panel
- main battery
- Ultrabay battery
- docking port

Each power source goes to a different part of the motherboard's power circuit. You could have a problem with only the DC input jack, yet the laptop will work from the other three sources.
