Anyone else have bluetooth/cell phone problems?

#1 Post by halfcard » Fri Jun 01, 2007 6:48 pm

My t41 will send pics to my samsung m500 cell phone, but unfortunately I never was able to send from the phone to the t41.

The phone will not locate the t41 even though they somehow did get 'paired' and visibiity is 'on' for both!! :(

2 bluetooth symbols at the bottom and 1 on the desktop are showing; at bottom, one is light blue called 'bluetooth devices' and the other is dark blue with a red middle that says 'Bluetooth on IBM'. The dark blue one seems to do nothing, nor does the one on my desktop which is called 'my bluetooth places.

The bluetooth antenna is on too. Since nothing automatically happened on the t41 when I hit the phone 'search for devices to send to', I right-clicked the light blue one on the bottom (note: IT HAS JUST DISAPPEARED LEAVING ONLY THE DARK BLUE ONE THAT DOES NOTHING!) and clicked 'receive a file'. However that just kept waiting and never received anything, and as stated the phone never found it.

I think you can see why I am confused! :D

You can read about my problem and the solution with bluetooth drivers in the following thread.

That said, if the problem is not the bluetooth driver in your case, then your phone may not be OBEX compliant. Even if the phone is OBEX compliant from the manufacturer, your carrier may have disabled the OBEX features. Verizon is notorious for that. I once bought a Motorola E815 that originally was OBEX compliant, but which Verizon had disabled the OBEX features. There was floating on the web a "Seem Edit" that could restore the OBEX features to this phone, but it is a violation of Verizon's TOS.

Wikipedia wrote:Unlike the V710, which inherently had no Bluetooth OBEX profile, the E815 includes OBEX compatibility. However, this feature was disabled by Verizon, as were (like the v710) the options to copy and move files between the TransFlash memory card and the phone's internal memory. However, several enthusiast groups dedicated to hacking Motorola phones exist, and despite Verizon's attempts to limit the phone's native features, several tutorials have surfaced providing detailed instructions on how to re-enable crippled features.
