T60, Out of Control Scrolling!

#1 Post by salin » Sat Jun 02, 2007 9:00 am

My new T60 has a problem with scrolling and screen shake. Let me explain!

Sometimes when working in Word or Excel, the page starts to scroll to the bottom of the document on its own. I have no control over the scroll bar to stop it or bring the doc back to the top of the page.

When this happens on a web page, the icon for the TrackPoint, even though I wasn’t using it, appears and shakes uncontrollably.

I was thinking it may be a graphics problem so I searched for driver updates, but found none.

Closing and reopening the doc does not cure the problem...........only a reboot works.

xp pro, sp 2

Just click one of the left mouse buttons somewhere in the document and this will stop the automatic scrolling.

This is not the auto scrolling feature in Word.

The icon for the TrackPoint does a constant flicker on web pages also, having nothing to do with Auto Scrolling.

I'm at a loss?

Even my signature in Outlook 2003 will jump and shake.

you COULD have a bad trackpoint..

try disabling the trackpoint and use either the trackpad or an external mouse..
if the problem persists it would indicate this to be a software problem..
