Windows Thinklight plugin for gaim

#1 Post by kulivontot » Sun Jun 03, 2007 12:12 pm

Linux has this wonderful plugin for gaim that makes the thinklight on your notebook flash a couple times whenever you get an IM, giving you a nice visual alert. (thinkwiki.org has more info on this.) Does anyone know of a similar plugin for windows? Or how about a windows app to turn the light on and off through software? With the latter perhaps a similar plugin could be made.

i know the acpi control in NHC has the ability to turn the light on/off.
no idea how to get from that to an external app though.

Hmm... I'm trying that out in NHC PR-6, but it seems to not have the ACPI configured for my T60. Any special steps to mess with this?

Here's the english subforum on the official NHC board:

Yes, that's me asking about the VAIO(!), and you can see where that got me. I guess it helps to speak German over there. :(

NHC does have "IBM" ACPI files included though. You should be better off than my VAIO.

Does the plugin work with Windows, as GAIM (now Pidgin) is cross-platform.

Bringing back an older post and not contributing anything useful... but... that's awesome. I can't wait!
