Microsoft Surface: A solution in search of a problem?

What do you guys think about this new "paradigm shift" in computing? I think it is a solution in search of a problem - there is nothing it does that we can't do with "traditional" comptuers (I inlude tablets here).

Ah, but there is clearly an application. Hotels, restaurants and casinos will easily find uses for this. You can get a much better idea of the target market by reading the Microsoft press release (and looking at the initial customers, too):

Fascinating and scary to a point(to me), too much use of A.I. is not good.

This is a cool use of technology and 'ubiquitous' computing. Soon we will have those killer UI's you see in SciFI movies on a piece of equipment with 60" of viewing / interactive space on your loving room wall, and yes it will be your TV as well.

I predict 10 years for the first consumer versions of this.
