T42p bluetooth and Plantronics Explorer 320

#1 Post by nuser » Mon Jun 04, 2007 1:38 pm

Hello All:

I am fairly beginner user and have some questions about connecting bluetooth headset.

I am unable to pair a Plantronics Explorer 320 headset to my T42p laptop running Windows XP/SP2. I have been through multiple threads on this forum and have tried different things. I have removed the microsoft bluetooth stack and reinstalled the widcomm IBM stack multiple times. The explorer 320 never pairs up with the laptop.

So first question: Can this be done? Is plantronics explorer 320 capable of connecting to laptops? I couldn't find anything on the plantronics website. The live help guy was pretty clueless (even by my standards).

Secondly what version of bluetooth runs on T42p? The explorer 320 is v1.2. I couldn't find out which version is T42p.

Regards,
SS

I was able to connect to my Plantronics 640 headset from my T42 using the procedure I document in the following thread.

Once you have the drivers working properly, you need to pair the device to your laptop. You need to turn on Discovery, on the headset, to accomplish this.

For my Plantronics Discovery 640 I must follow the basic procedure below for connecting to the laptop. Just substitute the word phone with laptop. FYI, the Call Control Button is also the On/Off button.
Plantronics wrote:1. "With your headset turned off, hold down the Call Control Button until the Headset Status Indicator briefly glows blue, then flashes red and blue. The Headset is now in discovery mode and will stay that way for 30 seconds."

2. "On your phone, highlight and select "Look for Devices," or equivalent, to activate the scan for your headset."

3. When the phone display shows the scan results, select "640 Plantronics". The Phone will continue to search for the Headset."

4. When the phone display asks for a passkey, type "0000" and press Enter."

Your Headset is now linked to your phone

Hello DKB:

That worked!!! Thank you very much! It feels like a great victory to get the headset working with the laptop.
