No you can't. The X60s processor does not support 64-bit.

Your welcome.

Contrary to what pxa270 said, the X60s does support 64-bit, both Vista and XP (as well as Linux, FreeBSD, Solaris etc.), as long as your model has a Core 2 Duo processor.

The "Napa" chipset will limit you to 3 GB of memory but otherwise you are certainly able to run 64-bit Vista on a Core 2 Duo-equipped X60s (or another ThinkPad with Core 2 Duo).

P.S. Adnan, please add your location to your profile!

But Core 2 Duo is not available on the X60s (and the CPU is soldered to the mainboard, hence cannot be replaced), so my answer was in fact correct.

Hi

I might be wrong, but to the best of my knowledge there are no Core-2 Duo X60s models. The xX60s have an L2400 or similar processor, which is Core Duo, but not Core-2 Duo.
X60, and the new X61(s) are a different story, of course.

At least 1702-L6U, 1702-L8U and 1702-M7U have L7400 Core 2 Duo processors.

See page 12 of the tabook:
ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/pcinstitu ... tabook.pdf

So these models are, in fact, 64-bit compatible.

I stand corrected
My machine (1703-AA1) isn't in the tabook, by the way. Since the list seems to be incomplete, there might be even more models of the X60s with a 7xxx processor.

As do I then. I was on the phone with a Lenovo rep less than a month ago, and he assured me that the s models wouldn't get C2D until the X61 ...
