T61 logo

#1 Post by cy2132 » Tue Jun 05, 2007 1:28 am

Hello guys,
I'm just wondering how many of you who have already got their T61s got the 'IBM thinkpad' logo, and how many got "thinkpad T series'.
I'm going to get the 766416U from a reseller.
Pretty curious about what will be the logo on this machine.
Thanks!

Mine came with the IBM Logo, as you can see in my YouTube video showing off the T61. It is a 7664-17U.

Thanks! Alot of people are griping about the length...but they should have seen the full 45+ minute video that I had to trim down to less than 10 minutes, per YouTube's rules. (By the way, the video clocked in at 9.59.93

Cool video indeed, tfflivemb2. :D

Just received my T61 this afternoon. It's the legendary IBM logo. I doubt anyone in the US got T61 with new thinkpad logo... Anyway, I got what I want :D.

I think some IBM logo'd ones might be "Top Seller" units.

tfflivemb2, great vid! By any chance do you have a better res version that can be uploaded to megaupload or rapidshare? Also, don't remove that sticker! I don't know if it would be as gorgeous afterward. ;)

I am actually thinking about using some of the outtakes videos to show where I zoomed in on the ports. I had edited them out to save on the length of the video, since the narration was horrible during those parts. I just posted a comment on the video stating that I might post the outtakes video with music in the background...but not necessarily sped up....since that part was the most popular...

Can't please everyone though...

Yes, both are at full brightness. I didn't realize how dim my R40 was until I saw the T61 next to it. My T21 is even more dim than the R40...

Do you think the X61 has the IBM logo on it as well?

I find it dissapointing that the logo is gone...

Well clearly it's not gone in all forms. I've had conflicting reports that it's business users who can get the IBM Logo, but then I heard it was normal orders that get the IBM Logo... I have seen some reviews from websites with the new Thinkpad logo.

Do you think it's a secret plot to make us all buy the IBM Logo, and make them a wadd of cash?

Nice video tfflivemb2!

And a nice comparison of T61 with those older Thinkpad models. Man, that T61 screen sure is brighter and has much better viewing angles those those older Thinkpads.

I don't believe T61 has any better viewing angles than those older thinkpads.

It does. I have one T61 and its viewing angle is an improvement, only loses to Flexview of course.
The viewable tilted angle go from about 70-120 degree and the horizontal viewing angle go from almost 80 degree from both side (wrt to the perpendicular line in the middle of the screen).

It does compared to my R40, the i1400, and a T23 that I finished putting together last night...

That should be a "Top Seller" model, so now I'm even more confused. Why offer the non-IBM logo to corporate customers, when they would be most likely to want IBM, and as they buy in bulk, would have the leverage to get it? It would seem the retail consumer would be the most likely to have no recourse.

I was merely talking about comparing flexview of older models Vs. T61's new lcd which is poor in side/vertical angles, a disgrace for such a new high end business machine.

The only customer who I don't think would mind the new logo, are new customers. Business customers want some uniformity and we all love the IBM Logo.
