harddisk issue

i noticed recently that my harddrive is working quite often nowerdays... and its bcs of that the battery drainage has been higher than usually too... does anybody know a solution to stop that?

T60 Large (14" 1400x1050,2gb,80gb,9cell bat, and advanced ultrabay battery)-->going to have a big x60 :D, Apple Powerbook G4, DesktopPC, Networkslave (dell optiplex as printserver) ->next upgrade: samsung mh80 120gb drive

if you are running vista, be sure to turn off some of the indexing features. I know its nice, but if you set it to just index your start menu, then its not too bad. And you can still search for files, it will just take a little longer.
